Food Pantry

Jericho’s food pantry has been a vital resource for our community for many years. We have been consistently serving over 300 families each month and providing essential support through perishable and non-perishable donations to our community.

Located at 22 Maple Ave., this vital resource serves any Danbury resident unsure about their next meal.

Jericho is always in need of both perishable and non-perishable donations.

Donations of Food

Donations of food are vital to the work we do and bring much needed variety to the community we serve. If you wish to donate perishable goods (meats, produce, dairy), please do that on Wednesday or Thursday; we have adequate refrigeration on site.

We accept donations at 22 Maple Ave, Danbury CT 06810.

Best hours:

Wednesday – 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
Thursday – 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
Friday – 9:00 to 11:00 am (we start distribution at 1:00 pm).

There’s a bin outside 24-7 for non-perishable donations.

For perishable and large donations, please make arrangements with Helen Azcona, Food Services Coordinator, at (475) 444-1076 or helen@jerichopartnership.org . Thank you!

Currently, we are most in need of:

  • Dried beans (1 or 2-pound bags)

  • Rice (1 or 2-pound bags)

  • Cooking oil

  • Tea and coffee

  • Baby food

  • Breakfast cereal (hot or cold)

  • Canned staple items such as tuna, soup, and vegetables are always welcome, as are mac & cheese, pasta and pasta sauce.

Weekender Bags

In our community, many children face food insecurity when daily school meals aren’t available. That’s why we created our Weekender Bag program, providing students with consistent, shelf-stable staples like oatmeal, soup, tuna, peanut butter, mac & cheese, and fruit to take home every weekend. Through generous donations we’re helping ease hunger and ensuring our students don’t have any doubts about their weekend meals

The program began in 2022 after a school social worker shared heartbreaking stories of children going hungry on weekends—when the free breakfasts and lunches they relied on during the week weren’t there..

One story stood out: a little boy who told his teacher he dreaded Fridays, because it meant two long days without enough to eat. Out of that pain, our weekend food program was born—just 120 bags a month at first. As word spread and the need became clear, the program swelled to 800 bags a month, a powerful testimony to the mercy of God and the compassion of our community.

Today, through faithful partnerships with schools and meal providers, we’re able to provide around 340 bags each month. And every bag tells a story too—a child who will face the weekend with a full stomach, a mom who can breathe easier knowing food is on the table, a family reminded that they are not forgotten.

The need is still with us, but so are grace and mercy. With the strength of our village, we will keep showing up, keep adapting, and keep ensuring no child in our city has to face a hungry weekend alone.

BAgs of LOVE

Thanksgiving means gathering with family to enjoy a delicious meal and thank God for our blessings.

But for many families, a dinner with all the trimmings is financially out of reach.

So Jericho fills the gap for our families. We provide nearly 250 family dinners for those we serve through our food pantry and academic / mentoring programs.

This year, we’re once again inviting financial contributions instead of physical items—and here’s why:

  • Your donation goes further through our bulk and volume discounts.

  • It helps us plan and organize more efficiently.

  • It allows us to provide exactly what each family enjoys—like pernil for our Latino families instead of turkey—so every meal feels personal and meaningful.

Thank you for your amazing support of the at-risk community in Danbury.
