We’re going rogue... for a good cause!
Nationwide, non-profit organizations will be raising funds on Giving Tuesday, traditionally the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
But not Jericho. Not this year! Instead, we’re “moving” Giving Tuesday to October 24.
Why? Because we’ll be raising funds for our Thanksgiving Bags of Love event, where we provide turkey and all the trimmings to 150 families in need in our Jericho and Samaritan Health Center community!
This year, as always, we’ll need your help to pull off this massive initiative. And it begins on October 24.
Here’s how:
· Give on October 24 or in the days after to achieve our goal of $4,000. We’ll use those funds to purchase virtually all the items we’ll pack into our Bags of Love.
· IMPORTANT NOTE: we’re asking donors to NOT bring physical items this year. Here’s why: 1) We're changing some of the items in the Bags, to provide food that's more in line, culturally, with the families we serve. 2) It’s more efficient for us to purchase – with your contributions - what we need, in bulk, with our discounts. 3) It ensures we’ll have the right amount of each item, and won't have to guess what we need to buy to supplement donated goods - so that we can make uniform Bags. This REALLY helps us!
· Donate a turkey! We’ll be receiving turkeys from CT FoodShare as well as some local grocers, but we’ll likely need a few more! Visit THIS LINK to RESERVE A SPOT to bring a frozen turkey to Jericho’s 22 Maple Ave location on November 16 or 17.
· Volunteer to pack Bags of Love the week of November 13 at Maple Ave. Email roxanna@jerichopartnership.org if you’d like to volunteer (we'll have several blocks of time that week).
Thank YOU for helping us show God’s love to those in need this Thanksgiving!
